Introduction: The Doctor
Name -
Joshua, aka
Where are you -
Montreal, Quebec
Who are you -
I'm a (generally) jolly and friendly university med student. Working part-time as a reservist and as a commission painter under the alias The White Gobbo. I enjoy BBQ, having a good time with friends and colleagues, outdoor activities like hiking, and strategic/tactical games. I started wargaming in 2002 when a very good friend of mine introduced me to Warhammer Fantasy Battles fifth and sixth edition (the golden age of that universe).
Ever since then, I've picked up many games and books and enjoy teaching newcomers the basics of wargaming and other activities like painting.
I'm an easygoing type of player and the most important thing for me is to have fun, though I do enjoy some friendly competition from time to time.
What are you playing on the table -
I'm currently enrolled in two RPG campaigns and I play whenever I can a large variety of miniature wargames; including historical, sci-fi, and fantasy. I spend most of my hobby time painting minis for other people since I work as a commission painter during my free time.
Play Style -
Depends on the game but I like fighting from the back, supporting my allies/being the mastermind, or being a tank that can shield everyone around.
Top irk(s) at the table -
Players who stomp newcomers on their first games when they are learning the rules. No matter the game, there's no reason to make a power list to crush a new player who's just starting out.
People who can't leave their cellphone aside for two seconds, unless they are waiting for an important call or the like.
The dice gods, because I throw so many ones you wouldn't believe it.
Current Gamer Projects -
I'm converting and painting a tournament level Warhammer 40k Horus Heresy Thousand Sons army that I plan on presenting on an armies on parade competition with my custom made Egyptian themed board.
Last word -
“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.”

I'm running a campaign of Legend of the Five Rings 4th Edition, while also playing in a two campaigns: one Star Wars RPG Saga Edition, and the other Shadowrun 5th Edition. Play Style -

Top irk at the table -
When a player can't put down their cell phone when we're at the table.
Current Gamer Projects -
I'm building two whole worlds for my RPG groups: Re-writing my own custom timeline for Legend of the Five Rings, and whole new world to be played with Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition.

Introduction: ChargingPun
Name -
Ben aka Charging Pun
Where are you -
Cambridge, Ontario
Who are you -
Code Monkey Level: 14
Husband Level: 11
Father Level: 8.6.4
I am many things. I'm a guy who likes to play, create, and analyze games.
What are you playing on the table -
At first I thought: not much, but that is not true.
The table does not have to include exotically painted miniatures, or complex rules, and for the most part mine does not. My table is populated by Checkers, Crazy Eights, Go Fish, Sorry: Minion Edition, Monopoly, and others.
While most of these would not be my first choice for gaming, I consider this an investment, a foundation for future gaming.
Play style -
I am an analyst, professionally and recreationally.
I seek out exploits and advantages. I've been min-maxing since long before I knew there was a name for it. I value effectiveness over power, method over chaos.
Top irk at the table -
Me.
I am a logical, easy-going kind of guy. I make a living deconstructing and rebuilding systems, and games are a collection of systems (not a complete definition). I understand how they work, and what they are designed to accomplish.
I'm also an extremely competitive person. From the days of youngest me right up to last weekend, when I was wrestling on the front lawn with my brother-in-law, the fires of competition have motivated me.
It disheartens me to say it, but there have been times when my competitive nature has gotten the better of me at the table... when losing. I know how much this sucks, as I've experienced it from the other side.
This is my struggle.
Lately, I've been fighting this battle in an entirely new way... through my kids.
Current gamer projects -
Teaching my kids to play games.

Introduction: Molotov
Name -
Donna aka Molotov
Where are you -
Ottawa, Ontario
Who are you -
I'm a Linux Sys admin, gamer and cosplayer, which I think qualifies me for some form of stereotype, though I'm not sure I want to know which one. When I'm not bouncing around countries for work, I'm usually found doing some form of gaming (video games and/or tabletop games), or I'm out rock climbing or on some kind of random outdoor adventure.
What are you playing on the table -
Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, Pathfinder, 'New' World of Darkness (if I can find a game).
Play style -
Traditionally either hold off and build, or 100% vanguard rush and stomp, without much in between. I'm trying to branch out though. When I'm playing Magic I've primarily played White/Green type builds, I'm trying to get into more Blue/Red to add a bit more variety. I love board games with a human element to it. Give me a hidden role game, or a cooperative with a traitor element any day. I'm a social creature, so 98% of my video games are multiplayer, otherwise they have to have a damned good story.
Top irk at the table -
Stomping on new players about rules. Drives. Me. Nuts. One of the top things I know keeps my friends from getting into my hobbies is a toxic attitude in a community. I try to create a welcoming environment for new gamers, help them find what play style they like to be able to recommend games, but bringing out to an event is always a risk to scaring them off. If they do something incorrectly, be polite about it and don't be a dick.
Current gamer projects -
A few game related cosplays for this year's conventions, and building a couple of amusing MtG decks.

Introduction: Antonius

Todd aka Antonius
Where are you -
Stratford, Ontario
Who are you -
I am a gamer who has been playing the likes of Dungeons and Dragons for nearly 25 years now. I was first introduced to miniatures wargaming back in 2000 with specialist games like Mordheim and Blood Bowl. Since then, I have also played Warhammer Fantasy, Warhammer 40k, as well as a variety of other games, that most recently include Infinity and Frostgrave.
I really enjoy a system that has a wonderful IP and a great community of players who can provide feedback and advice on conversions, how to get started tips and other tidbits to help gamers get into a new game, but without breaking the bank.
I am a great fan of the Horus Heresy novels that have been produced, as well as other fantasy and science fiction works by authors like Ed Greenwood, RA Salvatore, George RR Martin, Gav Thorpe, James Swallow, to name just a few.
I love to talk meta. I enjoy seeing what drew players to play certain factions within a game or even what drew them to play the game at all. Gaming has become a wonderful past time for me and I love to talk about it and share it with all different people.
What are you playing on the table -
Infinity (Combined Armies), Frostgrave, Warhammer Fantasy (Dark Elves), Warhammer 40k (Raven Guard Space Marines), Warhammer 30k (Blood Angels), Lord of the Rings (Kingdoms of Men)
Play style -
Prefer to be a casual gamer who loves campaign settings, can be a power gamer if a player wants to play test tournament lists for upcoming events
Top irk at the table -
People who lose sight of the fact that no matter what we are playing, it is just a game and take it too seriously
Current gamer projects -
Converting a Dark Elf Blood Bowl team. Painting my Raven Guard to have a fully finished 40k army. GM'ing in a Dungeons and Dragons community campaign with my own story arc and converting miniatures for Frostgrave
Last word -
Not my words, but someones who's work has brought me to the table and inspired me to enjoy the game.
“Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisioned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?. . .If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!” - JRR Tolkien

Introduction: Burns

John aka Burns
Where are you -
Ottawa, Ontario
Who are you -
Casual gamer, since my days of playing 40k in the late 90s who professionally solves problems for smart people.
What are you playing on the table -
Hordes - Circle of Orboros and Legion of Everblight. Magic the Gathering but only if it has Zombies. Infinity - Combined Army. Any board game that is fun or takes reference from the Necronomicon.
Play style -
Nothing fancy: smash the other guy. If I can pull off one cool move I consider it a victory, even if the rest of the game goes the other way.
Top irk at the table -
People who take the game too seriously
Getting my Combined Army into a tournament ready state, then adding models to my Hordes lists.

Introduction: Dozer
Name -
Olen aka Dozer
Where are you -
Ottawa, Ontario
Who are you -
I'm married and sporting two jobs while trying to keep a handle on my hobbies. When I have some time, I like to explore the world of BBQ, and I enjoy cooking. Reading and writing are regular activities for me, including my personal blog. When I'm tired I veg in front of my XBox or watch TV with the Missus.
What are you playing on the table -
Infinity, Scythe, Magic the Gathering, and Iron Kingdoms RPG
Play style -
I like creative and flexible play. I like factions with lots of options like Cygnar in Warmachine, Nomads in Infinity, and playing with Blue in Magic the Gathering. I like to creatively interact and take advantage of well designed game mechanics. I look at my games as puzzles, and I love trying out solutions. My style goes from aggressive to cautious depending on the situation. I like to try to new things in games even if it costs me the win. Above all, I like to have fun and I try to make sure my opponents have fun as well.
Top irk at the table -
Players that fail to understand that everyone needs to have fun. Games are about everyone having fun. In order for the game experience to get better you need to be a better player and facilitate other players in their own self-improvement. Being a player who is constantly negative about the game by complaining, putting it down, or who is bitter about the meta or mechanics is not someone I want to play with at the table. I dislike a player who is a poor looser or winner.
Current gamer projects -
Making more time to play, painting my minis, painting my terrain, working my IKRPG Campaign, and my upcoming Infinity Event.
Last word -
Enjoy your time at the table.

Weclome
Hello folks and fellow gamers.
I am a Canadian and I am a Tabletop Gamer.
This project will be not just me, I've enlisted help from all my fellow Canadian Tabletop Gamers who will introduce themselves as well.
This is a place where I hope we can share our experience as gamers in the great white north. Being Canadian we have unique issues and plenty of odd experiences.
Every week you'll find something new for gamers from a few Canadians.
- Cheers
